Glad I ordered
I'm sorry for all the people who had a bad experience with this website, but I'm so glad I didn't let their reviews dissuade me from ordering books for my son. All my orders arrived within the week and condition was as described (some of them even seemed like brand new) so I didn't need to contact their customer service. I did avoid one seller that had been mentioned negatively a couple of times so maybe that helped. In case this is of interest, I'm sharing here the sellers I ordered from as they all sent the books on time and in good condition:
- London Bridge Books
- Goldstone Books
- Learnearly Books
- Better World Books Ltd

Great service great condition …
Was struggling to find a book that was out of print, saw copies on ebay for over £20, but delighted to see it on abebooks for £9.50 and free delivery...no brainer. Ordered straight away, got a reply same day to say it was posted and literally in my hands the next night. Great Service, book in great condition, and free fast delivery. Better than expected...then I read these other reviews!!! Had I read before I probably wouldn't have ordered from them, but my own experience was great so I will use again! ?
£20 for a paperback, that was money wasted!!!
If I could have given no stars, then I would have done so. I am absolutely livid as I paid almost £20 for a second-hand paperback book that was advertised as being in ''fair'' condition. It was not, it was in terrible condition and only fit to be thrown away. The front and back cover was in a state of what can only be described as ''mangled,'' and was hanging onto the book itself by the skin of its teeth.
I contacted AbeBooks who immediately referred me to the seller, who in turn has failed to respond.
£20 ABSOLUTELY AND UTTERLY WASTED.

6 months of nothing
I ordered the book in January. It is now mid June and I neither received the book nor the refund. I have been in contact with customer support, going around in circles, giving them new information, only to have them revert me to square one. Never again. Ordering directly from small bookshops, even if it is more expensive.

As used by booksellers for years
As used by booksellers for years, probably one of the best places there is online to find the harder to find second hand books.
No one could call this a book!!!!!
The book I ordered arrived as a badly written pamphlet containing 30 pages. It contained spelling mistakes and was an obvious photocopy designed to extract money for something containing very little information. I am disgusted with it and wrote to Abe to express this. I have just rewritten and await a response.

Bought a book from monster bookshop…
Bought a book from monster bookshop through abe. Supposed to be very good condition but this worn out piece of trash arrived. Tried to complain but all I got was told to return it which will cost more than I paid. Avoid at all costs. Better off paying a little more for a new copy elsewhere. Terrible.

one after the other transactions on abe…
one after the other transactions on abe books an absolute mess
Absolute rip-off
Absolute rip-off
Books are cheap because postage costs are expensive and expect to wait 7-14 days for delivery. No wonder everyone uses Amazon. For the price postage costs it should be next day but it's not. Avoid using them. Customer service is non-existant. Joke of a company

If I could rate 0 I would
If I could rate 0 I would. I waited three weeks for my order. That in itself was fine as that's how long it said it would take, I don't mind waiting. However, it never arrived on the date. I emailed the seller asking if it were possible to get tracking information. I heard nothing back at all. It's been several days since I should have the product, but have not. I applied for a refund due to the product not arriving. I still have not got a refund, the product, or anything from the website or the seller. Still trying to get my money back. Honestly, do not bother.
Great service
Bought a book, then read the reviews and panicked. My book arrived 4 days after ordering. Whilst there are some signs of use (which I was aware of), it's in really good condition and I'm mors than happy

I've been impressed with ABE
Compared with other reviews I found ABE to be very responsive. When my order failed to arrive (after a month) ABE investigated and offered an immediate refund. This was honoured and showed in my bank within 48 hours. However, when I reorder from ABE - and I will - I will avoid "Awesome Books" that they use.
I ordered several books before Christmas too - these all arrived within a few days.
